With Kauai being such a small island you wouldn't think that there is much to do when it is raining outside. But you would be wrong. Here is a list to help you have a great rainy day.
This small museum and visitor's center offers free internet, walking tours of Historic Waimea, and you can learn about the history of Kauai.
This living arts museum is dedicated to preserving the culture of Kauai. The galleries feature works by local artists, as well as ancient artifacts. There are also educational exhibits and hands-on activities.
Learn about sugar cane's history on Kauai and the prominent family of George N. Wilcox. His house was turned into this museum in 1978.
This amazing plantation houses the romantic Gaylord's at Kilohana restaurant, the Kauai Plantation Railway at Kilohana Plantation, and many shops like Clayworks At Kilohana, Koloa Rum Tasting Room & Company Store, and Sea Reflections. This is a one stop for eating, drinking, shopping, and a train ride.
This museum is open every day of the year and they do not receive any government funding, so if you do visit please leave at least a $1 donation to help keep this amazing resource running.
Go Shopping
Coconut Marketplace, Hanalei Town, Kong Lung Center, Kukui Grove Center, Historic Old Koloa Town where you could spend the whole day here browsing through all the shops, and Poipu Shopping Village.
Go See a Movie
Sadly Kukui Grove 4 Cinemas and Waimea Theatre are the only two theaters remaining on Kauai. So go enjoy a movie while you still can.
Use clues to solve a mystery and escape these themed rooms before time runs out.
Even with the rain, you can still go on a river cruise, which takes about 80 minutes through a lush rainforest and if the rain lets up you can walk around the botanical gardens.
Feeling lucky, punk? Embrace your inner gunslinger at Kauai Eco Sporting Clays where the only thing getting hurt is that clay pigeon. But that thing was asking for trouble! Don't worry if you've never even seen a real gun before, the professionals here give full safety and shooting lessons and welcome first timers and seasoned shooters. Best of all, the facility is covered so you won't get wet.

Stop at Aunty Lilikoi Passion Fruit Products and pick up some unique jellies and hot sauces. Sample coffee at the Kauai Coffee Company and take a tour of the coffee farm. Koloa Rum Tasting Room & Company Store offers cocktails featuring their hand crafted rums. Munch on some island style cookies at Kauai Kookie Kompany.
