The Modern Honolulu - Hotels On Oahu Honolulu, Hawaii

The Modern hotel in Waikiki is just that, very modern. Everywhere you look at this AAA 4-Diamond hotel you'll see very modern designs with their clean and crisp edges. I don't think there is a curve to be found in this place, except at the pool where the young people with perfect bodies lay out all day in the sun to prepare for their late nights at the bars.

Yes, it's that kind of hotel. A haven for the younger, more beautiful crowd. If you are young and without kids and love the club scene then look no further, you've found your hotel. If you are a family with kids or older folks who've outgrown the party scene then maybe this isn't the hotel you are looking for.

Rooms

The hotel feels very upscale, freshly renovated, and very clean. The rooms will follow the ultra modern design themes but sadly only come with either one king bed or two doubles (rather than two queen beds). Suites are also available as is a $5000 per night Penthouse!

The 353 rooms and suites include custom designed furniture and fabrics, oversized glass-enclosed showers (tubs available in some rooms), free high-speed WiFi, a safe, coffee maker, slippers and robes, and 24 hour room service is available as well.

Pool & Beach

There are two pools available at The Modern Honolulu, one is the Sunrise Pool and the other is the Sunset Pool. Both are very, well, modern looking and both are likely to be popular places to hang out during the day or evening.

Of course, don't come here thinking you won't find any kids splashing you in the pool. They will still be here, just not as many as you might find at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort, for example. But, if that's an issue the Sunset Pool is an adults only pool where you can escape to if needed.

This is a decent location at the far northwest end of the Waikiki area but it's not on the beach (it's on a marina at the Ala Wai Boat Harbor). That means you have to walk a block or two to get to the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon or a bit further to get to any of the Waikiki beaches with Kahanamoku Beach @ Waikiki being the closest. This could be a minor hassle if you plan to do a lot of beach hopping and returning back to your hotel throughout the day but otherwise not a deal breaker for most.

Spa

If it's a luxurious treat you're after, then head over to the Lather Spa where they'll show you the benefits of aromatherapy while massaging your worries away. Lather Spa treatments incorporate their oth Lather branded products which are free of parabens, synthetic fragrances or colors, and sulfate cleansing agents.

The spa at The Modern Honolulu caters to individuals, brides, couples and groups with a wide variety of packages and add-on options.

Dining

On the dining front, The Modern is home to the Morimoto Waikiki restaurant (of Iron Chef fame) which is also very upscale and thus fits in very well here.

Other onsite options include The Grove and Passageway as well as 24-hour room service. Of course, you'll also be just steps away from a variety of Waikiki area restaurants as well.
