Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon is a manmade lagoon that was renovated a few years back and is now a very popular place to swim and play around. It's located right next to Kahanamoku Beach @ Waikiki and the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort in Honolulu on the island of O'ahu. It is fully open to the public even if you're not staying at the resort here.

It's a popular spot, mainly by guests of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort, but you'll find plenty of parking between the lagoon and boat harbor. The spots along the lagoon and the lot at the far south end will provide free parking while the lots along the harbor will cost you a few dollars so watch where you park.

It's not connected to the ocean at all but is salt water and is filtered (like a pool) so it's clean and a great place to swim and play. The water is a little cloudy but not too bad. You can sometimes find some shady spots, depending on the time of day, from the tall hotel buildings.

You can also rent all types of kayaks, stand up paddleboards, and other beach items. Another plus would be the easy access to the hotels and their various food offerings, for a price of course. You might also find a food truck in the parking lot at the south end for a cheaper bite to eat.
