Turtle Bay Resort is located on Oahu's famous north shore and it's the only resort on this part of the island. It's a very popular place with guests who don't want to stay in hectic Waikiki (see Waikiki Guide). It's slower and more relaxed on this side of the islands and, best of all, you're only an hour away from all that Waikiki and the big city of Honolulu have to offer.
We love that Turtle Bay promotes a healthy lifestyle and has designated the property as a non-smoking resort, though they do accommodate smokers in one of three designated areas near the main building.
Note that there is a $40 per night resort fee (see Hotel & Resort Fees & Taxes) which includes amenities like free WiFi, local calls, free self-parking (valet is $20 per night), and business center access.
Rooms
Something unique about the rooms here at Turtle Bay is the fact that every one of the 452 and 100% non-smoking rooms has an ocean view (most full, some partial). So you'll get to enjoy the ocean pretty much the entire time you stay here, and isn't the ocean the big reason you came to Hawaii?
Rooms are offered in a variety of styles that include standard guest rooms, suites, beach cottages, and villas. Most of the guest rooms and suites have a lanai (balcony) but not all do so ask about that when booking if it's important to you.
Pool, Beach, & Recreation
This luxury beach resort offers plenty to do if you're looking for fun in the sun. In addition to pools and hot tubs, the property is located right on Kuilima Cove / Bayview Beach on the east side of the property and Turtle Bay and Turtle Bay Beach on the west side. It's an ocean lover's paradise for sure.
Looking to hit the links? Then you'll want to check out the Turtle Bay Resort - George Fazio Golf Course and the Turtle Bay Resort - Arnold Palmer Golf Course that surround the resort.
Or maybe a day at the spa is more your speed? Turtle Bay has you covered with Nalu Kinetic Spa which offers a variety of face and body spa care therapies that are sure to wash your worries away.
Restaurants
Onsite dining options include Roy's Beach House, Surfer The Bar, Pa'akai, The Point Sunset & Pool Bar, Lei Leis Bar & Grill, Turtle Bay Lobby Lounge, and North Shore Kula Grille.
ADA Accessibility
Turtle Bay does a great job in making the resort ADA friendly and offers 13 handicap parking stalls close to the entrance along with a well maintained parking lot. Three of the hotel entrances are ADA accessible as is the front desk and five guest elevators.
Pools and hot tubs can be accessed using pool lifts or transfer wall systems. The fitness center and restaurants are also wheel chair accessible. They also offer 15 ADA compliant guest rooms in the main building, complete with accessible showers. One of the beach front cottages also offers an accessible shower and tub.
Nearby Activities
When staying here, you're not far from the Polynesian Cultural Center which is a fun activity to enjoy with your family when you're not snorkeling or enjoying the pools. Sunset Beach and Waimea Bay Beach Park make for fun excursions as you explore the North Shore but be sure to also read our Haleiwa, Hawaii Guide for more things to do in this area.
Fun Facts
Turtle Bay Resort has been the backdrop for many movies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Soul Surfer, Along Came Polly, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Don Juan Demarco. TV series Lost and North Shore have also been filmed here. For more on that, be sure to also read Popular Movies & TV Shows Filmed In Hawaii.
