Full Description
Sunset Beach is the classic, picture-perfect beach you imagine when you think of a great Hawaiian beach. It's a pretty large beach with tons of sand to play in and perfectly clear and blue waters. It's also easy to get to in the Haleiwa area on the north shore of O'ahu.

Sunset Beach is perfect for swimming, boogie boards, and surfing but each of those depends on the ocean conditions. This is one of the places that the pros surf (usually during the winter months) and where competitions are held so you'll want to avoid swimming here when the surf is up as it can pound the beach and maybe result in death.

Fear not, you'll know when the ocean isn't pleased and if you aren't sure then ask one of the lifeguards before going in. Even if you can't go in the water, just sit back and watch the pros do their thing.

When the ocean is a bit more calm (which is most of the summer months) it's a great place to relax, swim, snorkel a bit, or just float around while soaking in the views and sun.

You'll find some shady spots near the trees higher up on the beach (towards the road) and there is parking right in front of the beach and across the street in a parking lot (directly across the street from the map marker we set). That same parking lot has public bathrooms and showers as well.

One of Oahu's best beaches, and that's saying a lot considering how many amazing beaches Oahu has. It's a fun place to experience in the winter and staying dry. In the summer, it's equally amazing but in a way that allows you to get into the clear waters and soak it all in. Not to be missed!

Beautiful, but make sure you do your research before you visit. The North Shore changes a lot with the seasons, so watch surf forecast before visiting depending on what you want to do there.

Rented the octagonal home on Sunset Beach in 2003. One of the most beautiful experiences of my lifetime. I was stationed in Hawaii in 1966 and was in awe in what the island has changed. I visited in 2001 and stayed in Honolulu and a room at that time cost approximately $160 a night. When we rented the beautiful home on the beach we paid $76 per person. 13 people and all had their own bed. The whales were breaching in front of the home almost every day. the beach and water were beautiful.

One of my favorite beaches on the North Shore. There's a great trail for walking/riding bikes. If you come in the summer months it's super flat. Winter months, don't even try to get in the water! But it's amazing to watch the pros. Only con is the traffic (especially now since they are fixing the bridge). But it's one road in and out... so traffic is always going to be an issue.

I love this beach and I think it's better than Waikiki Beach. The parking isn't great but otherwise, it's a great beach overall. Fun waves to play around in with a blow-up tube.

It was truly massive to take my family and my niece to Sunset Beach and see where Elvis filmed some of his movies. The beach is just beautiful, the water colour is amazing. This beach is going to be hard to beat, and I've seen some beaches in my day, but this is amazing.
