Beth Anderson's Take
The Allerton Garden is a National Tropical Botanical Garden and sits right next to it's sister garden, the McBryde Garden - National Tropical Botanical Garden. Both gardens are located in the same area, across the street from Spouting Horn Park / Spouting Horn Blowhole, and share the same parking and ticketing area.

This popular garden has been name as one of the "50 Places of a Lifetime" by National Geographic Traveler and it's easy to see why as it's full of an amazing amount of plant life. The guided tours here are part garden tour and part art exhibit and feature a wide variety of exotic plants, sculptures, and water features. This tour is for children 8 years and older.

Allerton Garden has been the backdrop to many films such as Donovan's Reef, Jurassic Park, and the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. For more on that subject, be sure to read Popular Movies & TV Shows Filmed In Hawaii.

This may be the best botanical garden on the island. It just feels so tropical in here and there is a lot to see and explore.

Had to check this out and see where the movie Jurassic Park was filmed. The tree was a great spot to take pictures, all we needed were some dinosaur eggs.

Allerton Garden is a National Tropical Botanical Garden and we love to visit gardens of all kinds. This truly was an awesome place. We took the famous picture of us entwined in the roots of the famous Jurassic tree. We took our time and strolled the grounds and saw so much it was very peaceful. One visit was not enough for us we went again on our next visit and will probably go again on another trip. It is a must see.

The place is spacious, has lots of trees to shade your family from the harsh tropical weather and great for picnics. There is also a basketball court, so it is very family friendly.

The Queen's retreat is well preserved, and it is interesting to set foot on what was once a Royal's home. The souvenir shop is also filled with cute products, so it is worth your money, and it feels good to contribute in the preservation of a historical place.

Allerton garden is one of those magical places that you must not miss on your next trip to the Garden Isle. From the beginning to the end the tour we took was amazing. There are so many beautiful vistas, fountains, sculptures, and gorgeous plants of all varieties. We also loved seeing all the places that were used in some of our favorite movies. Especially the beautiful Moreton figs of Jurassic Park fame. This garden was one of the highlights of our last trip to Kauai and I know it will also be one of yours.
