Full Description
Spouting Horn Park is located in Koloa on Kauai's south shore and is home to the Spouting Horn Blowhole which is one of Kauai's most photographed spots.

It works like this, the ocean water is funneled into an old lava tube and it releases a huge spray of water, at least when the ocean waves are big.

As the legend goes, this section of the cost was guarded by a giant lizard known as a moo. The moo would kill anyone who tried to fish or swim along the coast so one day a guy named Like decided to take on the moo. The moo tried to kill Liko and Liko turns around and spears the moo, swims under the lava shelf and tube and escapes through the blowhole at the top. The moo followed and got stuck. So the sound you hear is the moo's roar and the spray of water is its breath.

Getting here is easy and there is plenty of parking as well. It can be a good spot for whale watching during whale watching season, December through May.

This is the first stop on the Koloa Heritage Trail.

Beautiful place to visit and see and when the blowhole goes off it is pretty neat.

Interesting to see but possibly a bit overrated.

We have stopped here to view the Spouting Horn Blowhole on every trip we make to Kauai. And each time we stand there for a long time just watching as the waters go out and in and up and out. Each time is different and picture worthy, I know as I have a lot.

We have taken so many pictures of the Blowhole, not to mention videos, and we love sharing them with friends and family at home it is just beyond words as to how this happens. I could stay there all day and watch this and the sound is riveting to hear.

Very interesting to see how the ocean flows through the lava tube to shoot up in the air.

The Spouting Horn is one of those attractions that no matter how many times I am on Kauai I love to go visit it. I have been to Kauai 3 times and every time I visit the blowhole. It is one of those natural phenomenon that makes Hawaii so unique and beautiful. I could stand there and watch this beautiful sight for hours. My first trip to Kauai in 1990 I visited the Spouting Horn and on my last visit in 2013 I visited again and everything looked the same as it did on my very first trip. I can't to visit it again when I return in November.

When we went in mid-June, the conditions were perfect. The spray was shooting 60-70 feet into the air and the "roar" was amazing. As we watched, we noticed several small blowholes around but none as spectacular as Spouting Horn. Very easy to get to and plenty of parking make this a must-do while visiting Kaua'i. Restrooms and vendors are there as well.

Such natural wonders are always fun! A stop to take in Kauai's famous blowhole is mandatory. We spent half an hour or so, enjoying the show and the lovely view before moving on. It's a nice spot too so is the ideal place for a picnic. Who doesn't love a blowhole?!

Could watch the blow hole for forever. You never know how high it will go or how loud the 'blow' will be. Easy to get to and mesmerizing once you get there. Could spend a day just watching.

Worth checking out, but you won't spend too much time here. The area is beautiful and waiting in anticipation for the blowhole to spout is fun, but short-lived. Spouting Horn is an essential stop along the Koloa Heritage Park.
