Spouting Horn Park is located in Koloa on Kauai's south shore and is home to the Spouting Horn Blowhole which is one of Kauai's most photographed spots.

It works like this, the ocean water is funneled into an old lava tube and it releases a huge spray of water, at least when the ocean waves are big.

As the legend goes, this section of the cost was guarded by a giant lizard known as a moo. The moo would kill anyone who tried to fish or swim along the coast so one day a guy named Like decided to take on the moo. The moo tried to kill Liko and Liko turns around and spears the moo, swims under the lava shelf and tube and escapes through the blowhole at the top. The moo followed and got stuck. So the sound you hear is the moo's roar and the spray of water is its breath.

Getting here is easy and there is plenty of parking as well. It can be a good spot for whale watching during whale watching season, December through May.

This is the first stop on the Koloa Heritage Trail.
