Prince Kuhio's Beach, or PK's Beach as it is known, isn't really a sandy beach at all. It's quite rocky so more of a beach where you'll see people fishing than laying out to get a tan.
Snorkeling can be good here when the ocean is calm but entry into the water is a bit on the difficult side. Parking is along the road only and there aren't any facilities here but there are bathrooms nearby at Lawa'i Beach. This can also be a good spot for surfing when conditions are right.
As for the name, Prince Kuhio's Beach? This beach is named for Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana'ole who was born in this area at (what is now) Prince Kuhio Park and Birth Place.
