Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana'ole was born in a grass hut near this beach to Princess Kinoike Kekaulike and High Chief David Kahalepouli Pi'ikoi on March 26, 1871. This park marks his birthplace and is the second stop on the Koloa Heritage Trail. This is the prince who is celebrated on Prince Kuhio Day.
