The beach comes and goes. Great for snorkeling when the ocean is calm.

Full Description
Lawai Beach is a tiny strip of sand right next to Beach House Restaurant, and right off Lawai Road in the Koloa area on the south shore of Kaua'i. Snorkeling can be good here if the ocean is calm but strong currents can develop when the waves are coming in.

Parking is along Lawai Road, wherever you can find a legal spot to fit. Since the beach is so small, and it gets even smaller as the tides rise, it can get a bit crowded here.

If you're staying nearby and can walk here then this can be a good beach for you. Bathrooms are located across the street.

Small beach but nice when it's not crowded and there is actually some sand here. Don't think I would make this a destination beach but if I was staying in the condos around here I would walk here and enjoy this beach a lot.

I give this a 3 as it's always crowded, many snorkel outfits bring their clients here to swim. One thing not to miss while there, walk out in front of the Kuhio Shores right next door and see all the turtles. Just unreal.

On our last trip to Kauai, we found Lawa'i beach and loved it. Sure it is smaller than some others but the snorkeling there was great. We were there during the winter months and saw many of the whales breaching from this beach. We enjoyed it very much. Definitely not as large as Poipu but considerably less crowded.
