Hanalei Pavilion Beach Park offers some good facilities, a nice grassy area, and even a lifeguard. It's very popular among locals, especially on weekends so if you visit we'd suggest a less hectic weekday trip.
If it is too crowded on your visit try walking west to Wai'oli Beach Park (Pine Trees) which is at the center of Hanalei Bay and likely to be less crowded than Hanalei Pavilion Beach Park. On the flip side, Hanalei Beach Park (Black Pot Beach) to the east is likely to be even more crowded.
It's popular with both surfers and boogie boarders and the swimming can be okay if the ocean is calm, otherwise there will be a lot of sand churn and rough shore break.
