Full Description
Wai'oli Beach Park, also known as Pine Trees for the ironwood trees that grow here, is located in the center of Hanalei Bay. It's an all around nice beach park with a lifeguard, bathrooms, showers, picnic tables, grills, a volleyball net, and large grassy areas.

Although this section of Hanalei Bay often isn't as crowded as Hanalei Pavilion Beach Park and Hanalei Beach Park (Black Pot Beach), which also share the same bay, this whole area can pack people in on busy days.

In the winter, it's a great place for more advanced surfers to catch a wave. If the waves aren't huge it can also be a good place for some beginner surfing.

If the ocean is on the calm side it can be a great beach to hang out or go for a swim but there can be dangerous rip currents here so check conditions and consult a lifeguard if you are unsure.

This is a good beach overall and I like that it has facilities (lifeguard, bathrooms, etc). Good for families when things are calm. Not a place I'd go on a weekend or holiday since it gets a bit busy here.

I like pine trees because it is much less crowded than over by the pier. We came teach my daughter to surf. There were some small waves, perfect for a beginner. It was very hot here and not much shade. We brought our umbrella but it was so windy they didn't stay up long. I loved that they have showers and bathrooms. Hanalei gets so busy I wouldn't choose this beach to just hang out for the day, but it was perfect for learning to surf.

Kauai's more average beaches are still more breathtaking than beaches elsewhere in the world. Wai'oli Beach Park is a nice local beach with amenities for families to come and enjoy.

Be careful at the shore break, since parts of it have a bit of an undertow. The shady area near the parking lot has picnic tables and restrooms. This beach is a bit more crowded since it is used by families. You'll see surfers hitting the waves here during swells, and talking story in the parking lot. Even though this beach is pleasant enough, I'm less likely to come here because of the crowds.
