Go On A Sportfishing Excursion
Hawaii has fantastic fishing charters, but Maui has some of the best captains in the business. Excursions seek out Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Black Marlin, Sailfish, Spearfish, Mahi Mahi, Ahi, and Ono. Seasoned captains know where and when to fish and give you a real Ernest Hemingway experience. Yes, fishing can be calm, relaxing, zen for a while and adrenaline pumping when a Blue Marlin catches hold and makes your reel scream! Be sure to also read Guide to Sportfishing in Hawaii and Big Game Sport Fish of Hawaii.
Drive The Road To Hana
One of the most picturesque drives in Hawaii is on the Road To Hana. There are few drives in the world as lovely as the road to Hana. The road is full of bends and twists, so take some motion sickness medication if you're prone to car sickness as a passenger. But if you can tough it out you'll see waterfalls, indigo blue ocean vistas, and lush tropical foliage along the way. It's also the way to Maui's famous Wai'anapanapa Black Sand Beach which is not to be missed. Read more about it at Road To Hana.
Snorkel At Molokini Crater
There are several boat excursions that launch from Kihei at Ma'alaea Harbor which will take you to this oasis. The water around Molokini Crater is crystal clear and it's truly a great experience for the whole family. Interesting fact, Molokini Crater was once a practice bombing target for US WWII warplanes. Today it's a protected seabird sanctuary offering a pristine snorkeling experience.
Take A Bike Ride Down Haleakala
For the bike enthusiast, biking up Haleakala National Park is a major feat and one to mark off your Hawaii [PID:28]. But for the rest of us, cruising down Maui's largest mountain is a much better idea. Bike tour operators will take you up to the top, and lead you at a gingerly pace down the great mountain. Obviously you'll need to be comfortable riding a bike, but it's a fun, scenic ride that's worth the trip. Interested in trying it out? Here are several companies that offer downhill bike tours of Haleakala.
