Marriotts Ko Olina Beach Club - Hotels On Oahu Kapolei, Hawaii

Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club is a hotel and timeshare property located in the Ko Olina Resort, across the street from the Ko Olina Golf Club, in the Kapolei area of O'ahu. It's located right on Ko Olina Lagoon 3 (Nai'a Lagoon) so you'll be just steps away from one of the best (albeit man-made) beaches in Hawaii which offers clear waters and is nicely protected from the open ocean. Kids will love the beach but don't expect anything more than ripples in terms of waves here.

Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club resort is pretty large and offers two main restaurants (Longhi's and Longboards) and has a small gift shop / marketplace where you can buy pricey sodas, ice cream, chips, and quick bites to eat. Our advice on the marketplace is to walk (or drive) to the Island Country Markets in the main Ko Olina Station & Center retail area where you'll find better (though not great) prices or to drive a mile and a half east to the main Kapolei shopping area where you will find Target, Costco, Safeway, Walmart, etc.

The hotel has a few really nice and large pool areas, one of which has a fun water slide that kids will love. You'll find several hot tubs throughout the property as well. Because they sell timeshares here, you'll even find other amenities such as BBQ grills that you can use to cook up some dinner and save a few dollars. The entire property is really nice and very lush, exactly what you would want and expect from a Hawaiian vacation. Waterfalls, koi ponds, and drinks with umbrellas in them. It's all here.

We do wish the pool areas were a bit better. They're certainly nice and large but can get a little crowded on busy days. I never understand why hotel developers don't spend more money on pool areas because they are always over used and don't have enough areas to play in. For example, there is a water slide here and it is fun but it's also not very big and there is only one. A place of this size should have 3-4 slides of varying sizes and a lazy river.

Need to cool down? You'll find some pretty tasty shave ice at the little towel hut near the lagoon. It's surprisingly good and even the smallest size is quite large. Grab your shave ice and hit the beach (you'll find free beach chairs you can use already setup).

There are several different room options which include your basic hotel room up to large suites and rooms with kitchens. Rates will vary based on the time of year but you can expect to pay around $350 per night for the cheapest room and it will go up quickly from there. It's not cheap unless you compare it Aulani A Disney Resort And Spa down the street which is likely to be several hundred dollars more per night!

Overall, the rooms are very nice, new feeling, and clean. We also like that the entire hotel is smoke free. Of course, they do have designated outdoor smoking areas and they all tend to be in the worst possible spots that are upwind of everyone else.

Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club has also hopped on resort fee train (see Hotel & Resort Fees & Taxes). For example, you'll pay just over $30.00 per night to park a car there (valet or self-park, either way you'll pay it). Keep in mind that this isn't Waikiki where you can walk to anything you want. Once you leave the Ko Olina Resort you will want to have a car to get around.

The staff here were very friendly and helpful but we did run into the timeshare sales people far too often. If I'm interested in a timeshare (which will never happen) I'll be sure to let you know so please stop trying to sell me on one when I stay at your hotel.

Overall, this is a very nice hotel to stay at and is likely to be the best hotel deal in the Ko Olina Resort for normal vacation stays of a week or so. It's a great place for kids as well (even if not as fun as nearby Aulani A Disney Resort And Spa) but we can't help but wish the pool area was better than it is.
