Full Description
Spencer Beach Park is a great little beach located in the town of Kamuela on the west side of Hawaii's Big Island. If you're staying in the Kailua-Kona it's just a short drive north to get here.

The beach has incredibly soft and powdery sand (even if the sand does have a lot of rocks in it). It also has nice and gentle waves (assuming the ocean is cooperating of course) and that makes it great for small kids. There are some shady areas as well.

This is a good spot to do some snorkeling and swimming when things are calm. There is good parking here and it has a lifeguard along with bathrooms, showers, as basketball court, and picnic tables. You can even camp here with a permit.

Overall, Spencer Beach Park is a fun little gem of a beach as long as you are there when it isn't too crowded.

A gorgeous beach and amazing place to see and hang out. Incredible beach and warm waters that were so calm.

This is a great beach park and one worth visiting and spending some time at. When the ocean is calm it's a great place for kids to splash around and having a lifeguard is always a plus. The sand is super powdery and fun to play in.

This is definitely a family beach. It gets pretty crowded past 11 am so go early and leave early to avoid the crowds. There is plenty of shade and spots to spread out. Sand is nice but with the trees there are sticks so be aware walking barefoot under the trees. Snorkeling here is pretty good if you go out past the rock. I've seen turtles here many times.

We camped here for one night. The beach is pretty nice - it is probably ideal for families with kids to visit during the day. Camping felt a little intimidating as most of our fellow campers appeared to be locals who actually live on the site much of the time. We had camped in lots of sites throughout the islands and really enjoyed the experience, but here we felt a little like outsiders.

Spencer Beach is the quintessential family beach. It's located near the luxurious resorts on the west side of the Big Island. Plenty of parking, nice restrooms, showers, picnic tables. There's an abundance of turtles and this is thought to be a great spot for whale watching during the winter months.

Wonderful spot for sunsets, and relaxing with family. There's a pavilion for picnics or a place to sneak away from from the sun for a while. It can be windy at Spencer Beach so check the weather forecast.

Spencer was a nice beach but not the best one around (Hapuna is better in my opinion). Still, this is a nice one and it's large with great sand and nice water.
