Lucy Wright Beach Park is very much the same as Waimea Beach since it's really more of an extension of that beach area.
This section is even closer to the Waimea River and so the waters here tend to get pretty murky and not really something you'd want to swim in, though we have seen families with small kids splashing around in the shallow waters.
The beach is a sort of a black sand beach but nothing like Maui's beautiful Wai'anapanapa Black Sand Beach. It's more of a brownish-black color that really feels more like dirty sand.
There is a park area behind the beach with bathrooms, showers, picnic tables, a grassy area, and even a baseball diamond. Assuming it's relatively clear out, you should be able to see the forbidden island of Ni'ihau off to your right (west). It's also right next to Russian Fort Elizabeth State Historical Park so if you're around here you can stop in and see that as well.
