Matt Anderson's Take
Nukoli'i Beach Park is a huge, two mile stretch of sand just south of Lydgate Beach Park. It stretches passed the Wailua Municipal Golf Course and the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort.

Swimming at Nukoli'i Beach isn't very good unless it's really calm, and even then the best area is in the middle near the golf course. Snorkeling might be okay if you have very calm seas, otherwise not so much.

The easiest access is south of the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort. From Kuhio Highway, head east on Kauai Beach Drive, then turn right onto Kauai Beach Road (first paved road and right turn you'll see). Follow it down and around to the end. This is also where the bathrooms and showers are located.

This southern end of the beach is also quite reefy which makes getting in the water difficult. It's best to head further north up the beach to find a better spot.

This isn't a great beach. If you show up near the southern end it's less than average with lots of beach debris and too much reef that makes water entry dicey. Walk a ways up to the northern side of it, around the middle of the golf course and beyond, and things do improve. What I like about this beach is how huge it is and how little it's used. Unfortunately, the list of pros sort of ends there.

I had no idea this beach was here, kind of found it by accident one day. I have to say it looked horrible! Which is a huge bummer since it has great potential to be a really quiet, nice beach. It was so littered with debris, I even saw lots of trash floating in the surf. Ugh! Plus there were hundreds of tiny Portuguese man-o-wars all over the beach, which I only noticed because I was searching for shells. It does have bathrooms and that big grassy area. Like I said it has potential, it is just really sad at the moment. the pictures look nice, it didn't look at all like that when I was there a week ago. I would skip this spot if you are visiting.
