Pila'a Beach is another great hidden beach found in the Kilauea on Kaua'i. This one will require a good 20-30 minute hike to reach while you navigate your way down about 150 feet in elevation. From the Kuhio Highway (Hwy 56), turn onto North Waiakalua Road. Near the end of the road, follow the dirt road/path on your left.

Park legally and take the steep trail on your right that leads to the beach, making sure you aren't trespassing on private property. The trail that heads to the left leads to Waiakalua Beach which is a much easier beach to reach and the one we suggest heading towards unless you really enjoy a challenge.

Not only is the trail to get here very rocky, but the beach here is a bit rocky too so swimming isn't great here and should only be attempted when the ocean is calm. If you get in trouble there are no lifeguards to help you here and probably not anybody else to even call for help.
