Matt Anderson's Take
No, really, Humuhumunukunukuapua'a is the name of this restaurant located in the Grand Wailea A Waldorf Astoria Resort in south Maui.

Okay, let's cover the name. The Humuhumu-nukunuku-apua'a - Reef Triggerfish is the state fish of Hawaii and it really does have a name that long. Hard to say at first so you need to break it down like this...

Humu
Humu
Nuku
Nuku
Apua'a

Better? Not to worry then, it's commonly just called Humu-Humu (as in Hoomoo-hoomoo).

The restaurant here is located over a million gallon saltwater lagoon which is pretty neat and gives it an ultra-tropical feel inside. On the down side, we've been by this lagoon many times and it sometimes stinks of stagnant water.

This is a pricey option and only offers dinner. If you go you can expect a variety of high end beef and seafood dishes.

We had a wonderful meal here and the staff was great as well. The food is delicious and the restaurant has a cool vibe to it. Just note that it is very expensive!

Had an amazing dinner here! Had a great table overlooking the fish pond and we had an amazing sunset view! A little pricier meal but so worth it!

I love the setting of this restaurant, even if I can't pronounce the name properly. The fish pond is just so cool, though maybe a little odd when you're also having fish for dinner! The scallops are excellent here and the sauce they put on top is the cherry on top. For an entree I went for the Spiny Lobster and it was excellent. Service was great as well. It's almost a perfect meal, just really expensive!

One of the best meals we had on Maui. It's a splurge meal for sure, ultra pricey! Still, it was worth it because the whole experience was perfect. I had the best mahi mahi dish ever here and the service was as perfect as it gets. Can't wait to visit again!
