Queen Kapiolani Hotel - Hotels On Oahu Honolulu, Hawaii

First, how about some quick backstory on Queen Kapiolani. She was married to David Kalakaua (see King David Kalakaua Statue) and became Queen when David became King in 1874. This hotel is, of course, named after her.

The Queen Kapiolani Hotel has a good location at the far south end of Waikiki. While it's not right on the beach, just walk a block down Kapahulu Avenue and you'll end up at Kuhio Beach Park @ Waikiki and Queen's Beach @ Waikiki. It's also directly across the street from the Honolulu Zoo and Queen Kapi'olani Regional Park and just a short walk to the Waikiki Aquarium.

The hotel has a total of 315 rooms. Ocean view rooms should have some lovely Waikiki Beach views but rooms with views of Queen Kapi'olani Regional Park should also have gorgeous Diamond Head views as well. Some rooms have lanais while others do not. Although rooms here can get a little pricey, a basic room can often be had for just a bit over $100 per night which is a pretty good deal considering the location.

Valet parking is available for the princely sum of $25 per night. Ouch. At least the WiFi is free.

Interesting factoid: Queen Kapi’olani’s motto in life was, "Kulia i ka nu’u," which means "Strive to reach the highest".
