Full Description
The St. Regis Princeville Resort is one of the top resorts on Kaua'i when it comes to class, luxury, service, and ratings. It's a large property, but with only 252 rooms it's not really a mega resort. It is big enough to have onsite dining, a large pool area, easy beach access, a luxury spa for those who require some extra pampering, and even the Makai Golf Club which is a par 72 course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by an extra friendly valet staff and then by an equally happy and friendly check in employee who got us all checked in very quickly. The staff here is second to none and always feel genuinely happy and willing to help you.

You will pay the always annoying resort fee here which is $30 per night (see Hotel & Resort Fees & Taxes). It will include your parking (though you still need to tip for valet service, see Tipping) and free wifi in your room and some other items like free local calls that you couldn't care less about.

I reserved a standard room with two queen beds and was pleasantly surprise at the overall room size which feels bigger than a normal hotel room since it fits two queen beds, a large desk, and even has a couch and sitting area. The room was spotless though the windows were a bit dirty on the outside and could use a more frequent cleaning.

The room comes with a large flat screen TV, DVD player, a mini refrigerator, and a coffee maker with some specialty coffee blends. There is a large closet with plenty of space and they even include plush robes and slippers.

The bathroom is an interesting situation. It's quite large but puts the two sinks, toilet, and shower all in a single space rather than a dedicate toilet room which is more common in newer buildings.

The interesting part is the giant glass window that lets you see out into the room itself. Not to worry, there is a full privacy option that is available (literally) at the flip of a switch which turns the transparent glass into frosted glass. It's a neat trick though you can still see silhouettes through the frosted glass and if you get within six inches of the glass you can see flesh right through it. Maybe better for honeymooners than for families, though even in the case of a honeymooner do you really want to see the silhouette of your spouse when they're on the toilet?

See what I mean, it's an interesting situation. Oh, and don't forget to hit that privacy switch on the glass because if you forget then everyone else in the room will see things they cannot unsee.

The only real complaints I had with the room are the overall lack of outlets where I could plugin (a single outlet by the desk and the rest in the bathroom are all I found). There was also a very strange and very constant buzzing noise in the wall 24/7 which was a bit annoying and wouldn't go away, though this is likely isolated to the particular room I had.

The pool area here is very nice and what you would expect from a higher end luxury type hotel. It's a fairly basic pool and there are plenty of chairs as well as cabanas you can rent. Kids won't find any awesome slides, lazy rivers, or awesome mini-waterpark options here but this pool and the hotel overall is really better for adults so the pool works just fine within that theme.

A pool bar and swim up bar are here as well.

The St Regis is located right on Pu'u Poa Beach so you'll have easy access to the beach which is right passed the pool area. If you want a slightly more special and hidden beach experience and don't mind a bit of a climb down some slightly sketchy stairs and pathways then check out nearby Pali Ke Kua Beach (Hideaways) as well which you can walk to.

In addition to the pool bar and The St. Regis Bar inside the hotel, you'll find onsite dining options at Kauai Grill, Makana Terrace, and Nalu Kai Grill & Bar.

I love everything about this hotel and resort. Sure, I wish they had a better beach behind the property. I also wish there was more to do out on this side of the island as I don't think this is the best location on the island overall. But the resort is amazing in every way. Great staff, great rooms, it's clean and comfortable, and you can really relax here.

The St. Regis Princeville Resort is easily a 5 star resort for me. It's not trying to be a modern mega resort that you never leave from. I would highly recommend it for couples more than families but couples will run into plenty of little kids. At the same time, families with kids won't feel unwelcome here at all. It works fine for all types of guests but for a family with kids I think there are better kid friendly options on the island such as the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa.

For couples or maybe even families with older teens then this is a great luxury resort experience and you are certain to have a great time here.

A wonderful resort, we couldn't be happier here. The staff are very friendly and the place is so nice. The rooms feel a bit bigger than most hotel. Pool area is quiet and relaxing and the beach here is okay too.

We wanted to splurge a bit and go for an upscale resort and the St Regis was that place. The people that work here are so friendly and the resort is immaculate. Rooms are very nice and didn't feel small. It's a big property and very lush so it just feels like a tropical paradise everywhere you go.

Not sure if I would recommend this for families, though we saw a few here. It seemed to be more popular with couples so in that case I highly recommend it. The pool area is nice and a great way to relax. The beach is pretty good as well but not the best around and the weather can be wetter and more unpredictable than other parts like the south shore of the island.

Overall, a perfect experience and I will be back!

This is a wonderful hotel and resort. The property is beautiful and fun to hang out at. The pool is nice and relaxing and the poolside service is great. The staff here are incredible, every single one of them that we encountered. Our room was great and always clean. The beach is nice and right in the back yard of the resort. Can't wait to come back!

We had the chance to check this luxury hotel out since we stayed right next door and took a tour of the inside and rooms for future info. We were impressed for sure and would love to stay here some time and be pampered to the fullest. Views out of every window was awesome and you could get some wonderful pictures. The beach here is beautiful loved going here to collect shells. We have visited the bar here for drinks and enjoyed it.

Probably the most spectacular View from any lobby in the world is at the St. Regis Hotel in Kauai. The large spanning windows overlook the seacliffs in the distance and ocean below. It is very impressive to see in person. Registration was a breeze, Asilee, a personable clerk checked us in. I found the valet to be the most helpful resource during our stay. Any question we had about where to eat and what to see was told to us with detail and enthusiasm.

Our room was clean, in the bed linen thread count was in accordance with a hotel of this caliber. In the bed itself was very comfortable. The shower has a feature that could be embarrassing. There is a large window looking out into the room from the bathroom shower. This feature I'm sure is a sexy feature for couples trying to spice things up. When you flip the switch by the lights, the window becomes frosted and you can't see through it. If you have friends visiting your room and a prankster decides to flip the frosted window switch off while you're taking a shower, your guests will get an eyeful!

The pool is located on the lower tier seven floors below the lobby. The pool area is next to a secluded beach which is much more impressive. It's nice to grab a towel at the pool and take a dip in the ocean, then come back to the pool area and order some food from the staff. The beach is protected from big surf and not too rough to swim and play.

The St. Regis is the place to go for peace and relaxation. It's not like a timeshare resort where there are loads of people in the pool and on the lounge chairs. It's not cheap and it's a top-tier hotel. Although you can bring your kids it might be better to bring that special someone for a romantic getaway.

Was lucky enough to stay here for 2 nights on a recent Kauai trip. What a resort! This place is luxury all the way. Very nice rooms. Very peaceful and quiet property. Fun to relax at the pool and beach and sip some drinks. I could spend weeks doing just that. Gorgeous property, can't recommend it enough.
