Matt Anderson's Take
Pu'u Poa Beach is located in the Princeville area on the north shore of Kaua'i, right next to The St. Regis Princeville Resort. If you are staying at that resort then access is easy right from the hotel. Just walk out the back of the hotel and through the pool area.

If you're not staying here then you can park in a very small lot that will be on Ka Haku Road, on your right just before you approach the little gate house for The St. Regis Princeville Resort. Unfortunately, it only holds a few cars.

From there you'll head towards The St. Regis Princeville Resort but stay to your left and will come upon a beach access path. It will have quite a few stairs as it heads down and around the pool area and towards the beach.

The beach itself is nice and can be a great place for snorkeling if the ocean is calm. If the waves are big here then swimming and snorkeling will not be very good.

The St. Regis Princeville Resort has set up shop here in a big way with lawn chairs and umbrellas so the beach has a very resort like feel to it and will likely be filled with resort guests. While this can be a good family beach and fun place even for kids, note that there is no lifeguard here so keep an eye on the keiki and keep them out if the waves are big.

We came here to see the St. Regis as a possible place to stay on a future trip to Kauai and decided to spend a little time at Puu Poa while we were here. It's a nice enough beach but not as nice as others on the island.

This is a nice beach and fun when the ocean is calm. It's a place you'd use if you were staying at The St. Regis but probably not a destination beach. Meaning, probably not a beach you'd drive to just for the beach. There are better options for that.

This is a nice beach if you're staying at the St Regis but I don't think you would drive to this beach otherwise. The bigger issue is the weather here as finding a perfect sunny day here wasn't easy during our stay.

It's nice to have a beach at the St Regis but there are much better beaches in the area a short drive away. This one is good for sitting out on the beach more than it is being in the water. But when things are calm the water is pretty decent too.

We loved this beach since we stayed at HBR which is just right next door. We would take the walkway down to St Regis Resort and walk and sun on this beach. Great for collecting shells it is a beautiful beach with beautiful views. We would go get a drink and a snack from the bar at St Regis and enjoy it on the beach. If you are not staying here they do have areas to park.
