The Makena Beach & Golf Resort closed it's doors on July 1, 2016 and will be replaced by the Makena Golf & Beach Club.
Makena Beach & Golf Resort is nestled on a white sandy beach along a secluded cove. The entire property is built around an atrium garden with stone paths, waterfalls and streams. The Resort boasts six tennis courts, convenience to golf, two swimming pools, hot tub, ocean view rooms and suites, and three restaurants on 1,800 acres of tropical scenery right on Maluaka Beach. Makena Beach & Golf Resort also provides options for ocean activities, meetings, weddings, receptions and more.
Rooms
Makena Beach & Golf Resort offers 290 guestrooms and 20 suites to choose from. Each room has a scenic garden or ocean front view – with a private lanai overlooking a white sand beach, lush gardens and koi ponds. There are a limited number of connecting rooms for families and groups that are also available. Guestroom amenities at Makena Beach & Golf Resort include: complimentary internet; flat screen high-definition television with 44 HD channels and 6 SD channels available; quality bed linens, designer bed throws, and serta presidential plush mattresses; bathrooms that feature granite counter tops, contemporary faucets and fixtures accented with upscale bath towels; and refinished cherry wood furnishings.

Cafe Kiowai at Makena Beach & Golf Resort offers a Hawaiian island breakfast experience served in an open-air dining area overlooking koi fishponds, Japanese-style gardens and waterfall features. They offer an a la carte menu which features local ingredients and twists on Hawaiian breakfast favorites. You also have the option of trying the restaurant’s signature dishes like the Makena Eggs Benedict - poached eggs, honey cured ham set a top cornbread crouton and topped with a mango hollandaise sauce. Additionally, there's a full breakfast buffet with varying options including made-to-order omelettes - and freshly baked breads, muffins and croissants. Opening hours are 6:30 am to 11:00 am.
The Pool Bar and Grill at Makena Beach & Golf Resort provides a laid back setting for a casual lunch or late afternoon cocktails. This eatery features an outdoor kitchen – which is outfitted with a Kiawe-wood burning pizza oven for made-to-order pizzas, a rotisserie for rotisserie chicken sandwiches and a flat-top grill for grilled burgers and fish tacos. The entire menu incorporates island ingredients with touches of Latin flavor to match the bright, festive colors of this poolside restaurant. There is also a full service bar that serves up island specialty cocktails, brews, wines and a variety of tropical blended drinks. Opening hours are 11:00 am to 5:30 pm. daily.
The Molokini Bar & Grill offers inspired island cuisine for dinner. The menu takes a non-traditional approach to American comfort food - infusing local ingredients and combining elements of Hawaii regional cuisine. Selections include dishes such as the Cilantro and Macadamia Nut Crusted MahiMahi and the Crispy Molokai Potato Wrapped Lobster Salad. Live entertainment is featured nightly and you can take advantage of the restaurant’s happy hour specials and nightly special menus, like Lobster Fest on Tuesdays and Thursday and Makena Sunday Brunch. Opening hours are 5:30 pm to10:00 pm, with happy hour at 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
Barista 5400 is conveniently located at the lobby entry where they serve Starbucks coffee and baked goods made fresh daily in Makena’s own kitchens. They provide Starbucks coffee that’s freshly brewed in a Schaerer Espresso machine, freshly-baked banana breads and pastries - and salads, smoothies, wraps, paninis, spam musubi, and sandwiches. They also serve alcoholic beverages like mimosas or bloody marys. Opening hours are from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm.
In addition to their four restaurant outlets, the resort offers both in-room dining options and special ocean-side dining opportunities - as well as monthly food and wine events.
On-site Shopping
Makena Beach & Golf Resort is home to Makena Mercantile, the resort's sundry store – as well as Nellie's, a resort wear clothing boutique. Both retail shops are open from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm daily.
Spa Services
Makena Kai Day Spa provides a wide range of luxurious beauty and body treatments designed as therapy for mind, body and spirit. Operated by Hawaiian Rainforest Spas, this Maui Spa retreat focuses on unique Hawaiian inspired massages and treatments. They aim to make every experience at Makena Kai Day Spa refreshing to the body, mind, and spirit. You can indulge in oceanfront massages in their thatched-roof, open-air beach cabanas or choose from other relaxing and restorative treatments - including foot polishes, aromatherapy, scalp therapy, and reflexology. Massage service (including couple) is also available in the privacy of your guest room at an additional charge.
Pool and Recreation
The Makena Beach & Golf Resort offers adventures from kayaking and canoe paddling to beachfront yoga and ukulele lessons. The resort also features: two pools and hot tub; a fitness center; various water activities; six-court Makena Tennis Club; and an outdoor play center - featuring shuffle board, ping pong, miniature golf, croquet, bocce ball, badminton and volleyball. They also have a full service concierge desk, which offers a variety of Maui Activities.
