The Fairmont Kea Lani is a mega resort located in the Wailea area of South Maui. This is a very luxurious hotel and just an all around beautiful property.

The room situation here sets this apart from other resorts because they only offer suites and villas. Meaning, a "regular" room at The Fairmont Kea Lani is an 860 square foot one bedroom suite. Not enough for you? Then you'll love the two story 2 bedroom villas with 1800 square feet of space or the 2200 square foot 3 bedroom villas which have full kitchens and their own small plunge pools.

This resort really has it all. There are three swimming pools (one is adults only), two activity pools that are connect by a 140 foot waterslide, a new 9,000 square foot spa, onsite dining options, and you are steps away from the lovely Polo Beach Park.

It's annoying enough when normal hotels have to do the resort charge thing, but to see these high end luxury resorts do it just feels so tacky. Anyone who can afford to stay here won't care about the daily $30 (plux tax) resort fee and it should just be bundled into the final price of the room.

That fee gets you basic internet access (so they can up-sell you on a faster connection), self parking, bottled water in your room, access to the fitness center, sun screen, an hour of free snorkel equipment use, and some other minor things.

The bottom line is that you're paying $30 per day for the "free" Internet and "free" self parking. Annoying indeed.

This place isn't cheap, expect to pay over $500 for the cheapest room (which is a one bedroom suite) with the worst view during the off season. It quickly goes up from there with those same suites going up into the $600 to $900 range. That two bedroom villa is nice, and it should when it runs $2000 to $2500 (and up) per night.

Got the money but afraid your kids aren't welcome here? Non-sense! This place is always crawling with families and kids. They even have an in-site kids club.

If you can afford it you are certain to love this place.
