Matt Anderson's Take
Ulua Beach Park is another amazing beach in the Wailea area of south Maui. The north end of the beach connects to Mokapu Beach and the two share a parking lot as well.

To get here, from Wailea Alanui Drive, turn towards the ocean on Ulua Beach Road and you'll find some parking at the end. The public showers and bathrooms are located at the end of this road as well. If you are staying at the Andaz Maui At Wailea hotel then you can simply walk out the back of the hotel, turn left on the beach walk, and be here in seconds. It's located right next to (just south of) Mokapu Beach.

This is a classic south Maui beach with it's darker brown and very powdery sand. It has a nice crescent shape to it with usually gentle waves. There is some sand that gets churned right in the water right at the shore line but otherwise the water is crystal clear.

There really isn't any shade here, but it's a great beach overall. It's a great place for a swim and maybe some snorkeling when the water is calm. It's on the Wailea Beach Walk path so you can also walk to the other beaches and hotels in this area easily.

An absolutely perfect Maui beach with powdery sand and sunny skies. The water is clear and warm and is the perfect place to unwind in the evening.

Shhhhh, this is a gem. Love this area and love this little beach. We just kind of came upon it and ended up staying for a while. In this area you need to go snorkeling earlier in the morning. And this is a great place. By noon, though, the waters get a bit more rough. Parking is not so difficult and can also be found along the road. make sure not to block any driveways. Pretty quiet over here, and even in the summer months. This whole area happens to be pretty quiet, actually. If you want some place a little off the beaten trail, this is it for beach access and quiet moments.

Another great beach in south Maui. Often gentle waves make for a great place to relax. Warm waters and powdery sand only add to the perfection here.

Another convenient beach for visitors at one of the adjacent luxury hotels. After a long day of sightseeing, I can't think of a better way to cap off my day then to dip in the water at Ulua Beach and gaze off at sunset. Heavenly. The water here is really clear. I swam out about 50 feet and watched the sunset. It was a memorable moment after spending the day touring around Maui.

Went snorkeling with Ann Fielding here in 2010. Good variety of marine life, comfy sand, clear water, not too many people. Bring a beach umbrella or a pop-up canopy!
