Matt Anderson's Take
Commonly referred to as Punchbowl, the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific is a memorial cemetery that honors those who have served in the United States Armed Forces and sits in Punchbowl Crater.

It's fairly close to the Waikiki area so worth the quick drive to check it out and is full of information, tiled artwork, memorials, and an amazing lookout at the top which has great ocean views of Honolulu.

The cemetery portion is very well kept up, quiet, and peaceful but the bottom line is that it's a cemetery so not really a major attraction but interesting to drive through and see.

When you're done, take a drive through Tantalus and Round Top Hill Drive too!

The movie Battleship was filmed here as well as TV series Hawaii Five-O, Magnum P.I., and Hawaii Five-O Reboot.

Beautiful spot to honor so many of our heroes. Make sure you check the hours, the gates close rather early.

This is spot is a must see while on Oahu. Views are beautiful of Waikiki and Honolulu. But the memorial is a wonderful tribute to all of those who lost their lives.

Saw this on our first trip to Hawaii when we did a city wide tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Of course it is always very sobering visiting a cemetery honoring those that have served in the armed forces. Highly recommended for those visiting Honolulu. This and Pearl Harbor for honoring those who have fought for this country.

Punch Bowl is another one of those must see places on the island of the Oahu. It is a great tribute to all those who have lost their lives in the service of our country. The grounds are impeccably maintained and the lawns are beautiful. It is a very peaceful place and a worthy resting place for those lost in action. No trip to Hawaii is complete without a visit to Punchbowl cemetery.

I don't care what age you are, race , creed or religion, you will be moved by the wonder of this final resting place of so many killed in WWII. I was there just by chance on 9-11-14 which made it so much more poignant. There was also a ceremony honoring the Japanese Veterans being set up. It was a mistake to not spend some time walking amongst the names laid to rest there.
