Kalaeloa Beach Park, sometimes called Eisenhower Beach because it's located on Eisenhower Road, is a great spot for those looking to do some camping.
The City and County of Honolulu offers 13 campsites that are all in a nice and shady forest area right along the beach. A permit is required to camp here and even the city warns that you may have houseless people here so keep that in mind. On weekends it's a popular spot with local campers so it may not be as peaceful as you'd like.
The beach itself isn't shady and most of it is rocky and reefy so not a great place to swim but it is a great place for some surfing. While this isn't a bad beach, you are probably better off going to White Plains Beach next door (to the east) which has full facilities, lifeguards, and dedicated swimming and surfing lanes.
