The Manoa Cliff Trail is 2.3 mile (each way) out and back style hiking trail in the Honolulu area of O'ahu. The trail travels through thick swamp mahogany and a guava forest. The trail starts out at around 1,300 feet in elevation and gains 500 feet as it tops out around 1,850 feet high. Other than the elevation gain, this is likely a pretty easy hike for most.
The trail will contour the cliffs above the Manoa Valley and around Tantalus Crater to the Pauoa Valley. The trailhead for this hike is pinpointed on our directions page and easily accessed via Round Top Drive. You'll find a small roadside parking area right across the street from the trailhead. Be very careful and watch for cars on this twisty road because they're probably not watching for you.
Note that this trail does not go to the popular Manoa waterfall and you'll instead want to hike the Manoa Falls Trail if you're looking for Manoa Falls.
At the other end of the hike you'll intersect with the Pu'u Ohia Trail (on your left) and Pauoa Flats Trail (on your right). So, if you're looking for the popular Manoa waterfall you can hike the Manoa Cliff Trail to Pauoa Flats Trail and then to the Aihualama Trail which will connect to the Manoa Falls Trail right at the actual waterfall but will not loop back around to the Manoa Cliff Trail trailhead where you parked. The easier way to Manoa Falls is just to start at the Manoa Falls Trail.
Dogs are allowed on this trail but it's not a recommended hike for animals as hunting dogs may be on this trail. Because of that, if you do bring a dog it must remained leashed at all times. Be sure to read Hiking Safety & Essentials before you go.
