Full Description
Pauoa Bay is located right behind The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii. This is a small bay that is protected by a natural sea wall and home to one of the healthiest coral reefs due to the efforts of University of Hawaii.

The crescent shaped bay is perfect for swimming and snorkeling due it's usually calm waters. You might even spot a Honu - The Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle, a variety of reef fish as well as eels and other marine life. In the winter time, you might even catch a glimpse of whales offshore here.

As for beach access and parking, the closest option is at The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii but you'll pay to park there. If you want free parking you'll be parking a good distance away and walking in. In that case, park over at the free lot for the Malama Petroglyph Trail / Puako Petroglyph Preserve which can hold a couple of dozen cars. From there you'll follow a path along the shore to Pauao Bay Beach as it works its way through The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii property.

A very excellent resort beach. It's well protected so great for families. The resort has pretty much taken over the beach and it's obvious they try and discourage the unwashed masses from coming here but don't let that stop you for seeing it.

This is a small, lagoon-like beach accessed primarily by guests of the Fairmont Orchid Hotel. It's perfect resort-like beach (similar to Ko Olina on Oahu). Safe for kids, plenty of beach chairs for hotel guests. It's beautiful, somewhat secluded (especially in the early AM).

Easily accessible, great for snorkeling and water play. This is the type of beach resort lovers will enjoy.
