Nimitz Beach is located right across the street from Kalaeloa Airport (JRF) which is mostly used by the Coast Guard and other military branches.

You can park at various places on the ocean side of the street next to the long concrete barriers where everyone else is. Or, you can go further west down the road and you'll find other street parking options along the way. All the way at the west end of the beach, the road will dead end so you can also park down there or turn around and come back to the east end.

From the middle to the west end are military only beach cottages that those with military ID can rent out for vacations. While the cottages cannot be used by non-military, the beach is open to everyone. The entire beach is pretty good overall but there are a lot of rocky areas that make water access difficult in many spots. You'll find less rocky areas in several spots along the beach that will allow you to get in the water.

The middle area where the cottages are (where Nimitz St turns towards the ocean off of Coral Sea Rd) is less rocky as is the far west end. Take a walk around the beach and you'll find some old World War II era concrete bunkers that are slowly falling apart. Neat to see but why can the military build stuff like this and abandon it rather than cleaning it up? It will likely take one of these falling apart and somebody getting hurt before that ever happens.

Overall, the water here is good and a nice shade of blue but it does get a little cloudy from the sand being churned up in it so it's usually not very clear in most spots. During the week this place is never busy but on weekends it may see more of a crowd (though there is usually no problem in find a place to park somewhere along the street).
