Chalupa's serves Mexican cuisine for lunch and dinner out of a food truck, right next to Craving Thai, and they provide some covered picnic tables or you can get your food to go.
I don't get excited about food trucks like some people do but I saw the sign and Mexican food sounded good so I stopped by. I ordered their Ranchero Beef Burrito for $9. It comes with chunks and shreds of stewed beef that is very tender and delicious. It also had rice and beans inside and was pretty huge. It completely filled me up but was so good I could have eaten more.
So what if it wasn't the best burrito I've ever had, it left me wanting more (even though I was stuffed) and if I was sticking around another day I would have gone back for sure.
They also features their famous fish tacos which was voted as the best in Kauai as well as a variety of other Mexican burritos, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas ($7.50 with rice and beans), and so on.
I have heard others complain about the chickens that run around on the loose here but this is Kauai and there are chickens running around all over the entire island. That's just part of Kauai and they're not bold enough to approach you so I can't fault a food truck for wildlife like that.
