Full Description
Waialea Bay is a pretty small beach but has beautiful blue waters so one we highly recommend checking out. It's easy to find in Kamuela on Hawaii's Big Island and is located just a bit north of the Waikoloa Resort area.

It's known as "Beach 69" simply because there used to be a telephone pole here that was Telephone Pole #69 (which has since changed but the name stuck).

There is no lifeguard here but the waves seem to be gentle much of the time which makes for great swimming. The sand is nice and powdery here which makes it fun to play in and build with.

There are also some shady areas here as well. Bathrooms and showers are available as are picnic tables.

It has a good amount of parking but non-Hawaii residents will pay $5.00 to park here. If you have a Hawaii drivers license or state ID then parking is free for you. If you purchased parking at Hapuna Beach State Park you can park here for free on the same day.

An excellent beach all around and a fun family beach as well. It's a little on the small side and it can pack in the crowds, especially locals on the weekends, so go early.

My wife and I got married at Beach #69 in March of 2013. We're excited to go back in March of 2017 to further enjoy this beach.

What a lovely beach. We were there in May getting married and it was very romantic. Perfect sunset wedding on the beach and the weather was great.

This is an alternative to the much larger and more popular Hapuna Beach just up the road. Waialea Bay Beach can be crowded on weekends and during holiday vacations, but it's truly a special place. The snorkeling is fantastic as there is an abundance of sea life on the offshore reef. Plenty of colorful fish, moray eels, and turtles to see. Great Beach. If you purchased a parking pass at Hapuna Beach State Park it's valid here as well on the same day.

This is one of my favorite beaches. There is no fee (when the machine is broken) but the lot does fill up quickly (that's the only drawback, the crowds). Great beach, nice sand, and there is shade too. Snorkeling is fairly good. We go early and have it to ourselves until about 9:30 AM. Crowds come in around noon.

Beautiful beach. Snorkeling is fair when it's calm, if not the water gets murky. The shower is great, the water is naturally warmed by the sun.

We came 3 different days on our last week long big island trip and really fell in love with this beach. Love the water here and it was never really crowded when we went.
