About Ka'U Coffee Mill
Established in 2011.

Ka'u Coffee Mill, founded by Edmund C. Olson, carries on a tradition of agriculture on Hawai'i's Big Island above the village of Pahala in the District of Ka'u. Ka'u Coffee is grown, hand-picked and milled on the slopes of Mauna Loa, the largest volcano on earth, rising more than 30,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean floor. This renowned Ka'u Coffee region lies on the edge of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park and near the Ka'u Coast, the longest uninhabited shoreline in Hawai'i. Ka'u Coffee Mill is a seed to cup Company which gives us the unique ability to specialize in the quality of our product. We follow the product from the picking of the coffee cherry to processing, drying, roasting and finally ending in our retail store on site.

We also specialize in drying processes, we have the ability to not only produce Washed coffee (the vast amount of coffee consumed worldwide), we also produce Semi-Washed and Naturals. Both of these processes will produce flavor profiles that are unique to each.
Beth Anderson's Take
Ka'U Coffee Mill's retail store provides free tours of the coffee orchards, milling, and roasting. Products available include a wide variety of fine Ka'u coffee, macadamia nuts, art, and gifts all from local artists and producers.

Since the retail stores grand opening in May 2012 they have quadrupled their sales in a single year. Guests are greeted welcomed to free tours, samples, and unique items for sale found nowhere else on the island.

Ka'u Coffee Mill, LLC is a major, fundamental sponsor of the Ka'u Coffee Festival, which is held in May and runs for 10 days. They are currently building a 400w hydroelectric plant to fully power all operations via renewable energy.
