A small park area on the road to Hana. Great place to see a waterfall, better place to empty your bladder.

Pua'a Ka'a State Wayside Park is a state park located on Maui, right along the Road To Hana, see our map marker for the exact location.

It's fairly small at only five acres but does have a waterwall on the mauka (mountain) side of the road. You should be able to see an easy access trail and it's a very short walk from there to see the waterfall.

On makai (ocean) side of the road is the parking area and bathrooms. Other than the waterfall, those bathrooms are the star attraction here and probably the only real rest stop you'll have between the beginning of the Hana Highway and the small Hana town itself so stop and use them now.

Some people like to take a dip in the chilly waters by the waterfall and on a hot day it's easy to see why. If you choose to do this you may want to first learn a bit about Leptospirosis and see if it's still worth the risk.

If swimming isn't your thing this is also a good and popular place to stop for a picnic or even just to get out and stretch your legs from the long drive. It will also give your passengers a chance to let their stomachs settle from all of those twists and turns.
