Salt Pond Beach Park - Beaches On Kauai Eleele, Hawaii

Salt Pond Beach Park is located in the Eleele area on the south shore of Kaua'i, right next to the small Port Allen Airport. The family friendly beach has two separate swimming areas.

One is very small and very protected from the ocean and the other is much larger but still somewhat protected from the ocean.

This is a good place for families and small children and the water is very clear.

This is a full featured beach park with lifeguards, large grassy area, bathrooms, sinks, water fountains, showers, grills, and picnic tables. It's hugely popular with locals on the weekends but there is plenty of parking even when it is crowded.

The local word here is that the mud on the west side is good for skin treatments and face masks. Rub it on, let it dry, and wash it off. Or so the story goes.

As for that name? Salt used to be, and still is, produced here. They pump in salt water and let the water evaporate until they're left with sea salt. Neat.
