Located on the rugged Hana coast, Kahanu Garden is nestled in one of the largest native hala forests in Hawaii. Pacific Island plant collections are the main focus of this botanical garden, especially those that are of high value to Hawaiian and Polynesian cultures. They also have the world's largest collection of breadfruit trees.
On top of that, this is home to the Pi'ilanihale Heiau which is the largest known ancient Hawaiian temple in all of the Hawaiian islands. It's also a National Historic Landmark. See Pi'ilanihale Heiau / Kahanu Garden for more on the heiau.
