Matt Anderson's Take
Kapa'a Beach Park occupies a large strip of stand on Kauai's east coast. It's very popular with locals, especially on the weekends since it has a lot of grass, a soccer field, picnic tables, and bathrooms.

The beach itself isn't overly spectacular and many areas are rocky which would make getting into the water difficult. There are patches of sandy beach where you can access the ocean if the waves are calm, likely in the summer months.

In the winter, you'll want to be more careful here and make sure conditions are okay before going into the water. Strong currents and wave action can make this beach less than idea during winter months.

If the wind is blowing it's a great place to watch kite surfers. You'll also find a long, paved beachwalk that runs the length of the beach if you're up for a walk or run. The Kapaa Swimming Pool is located here as well.

There is a fair amount of good stuff at this beach park. There is a lot of sandy area, places to have a picnic, and the beach walk is a great place to take a stroll. Unfortunately, the beach and ocean here are just average. Not bad, not great. If I lived around here and could walk to this beach I'd be here all the time. But if I had to drive I could drive to far better beaches and would do so.

Kapa'a Beach Park has a lot going for it. It’s easily accessible from the freeway, and has a bike path beside it. Beautiful white sand – a great place during the non-months to visit with the family. Wintertime there can be strong currents and swells, so be sure to check the conditions before you go in.
