Secret Beach, or just Secrets as the locals call it, really isn't much of a secret that you can find in the Kilauea on the north shore of Kaua'i. It's actually pretty popular but also surprisingly large so you'll have plenty of room to call your own here.

To get here from the Kuhio Highway you'll head north onto Kalihiwai Road which will curve left and then take the first right which is Secret Beach Road even if it isn't marked as such. See, how secret can it be when it has a road named after it!

Head down Secret Beach Road to the end and you'll find parking at the end and along side the road near the end. Our map / directions page will take you right to the beach.

From there follow the path which is a 10-15 hike to the beach which will take you to the west end of the beach. You can walk further down the beach to the east end and, in theory, might run into some folks in the nude (though it's rare).

Stay on the west side and it won't matter either way to you, but there is a small waterfall that you can sometimes find (depending on water flow) if you head towards the east side.

There can be strong currents here, especially during winter months which is why you'll see some signage about the various drownings and near drownings that have occurred here in recent years. During the summer, and only if the ocean is very calm, it can be a great place to swim or snorkel. Even then, you'll be on your own if you get into trouble. If things aren't calm just enjoy an excellent beach without going in.
