Volcano House is the only hotel that’s located within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and is perched on the rim of Kilauea's Halemaumau crater. Drawing upon a storied history dating back to 1846, Volcano House Hotel has been re-imagined for a new era with updated rooms, a restaurant and lounge serving Pacific Rim fare, and retail shops.

The restored Volcano House offers 33 historic guest rooms, a dining room, snack bar, gift shop, and cultural events and demonstrations. Volcano House also manages 10 camper cabins and the campsites in the nearby Namakanipaio Campground.

Additionally, instead of televisions, they offer free use of iPads and Wi-Fi, daily guided walking tours of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, free bike rentals, live entertainment in Uncle George’s Lounge on Saturday and Sunday evenings, board and card games - and a lending library with guide books, cultural history and children’s bedtime stories.

Rooms
Volcano House offers guest rooms that combine rustic island decor with modern amenities that include complimentary WiFi internet access. None of the guest rooms are equipped with air conditioning. The average high temperature runs between 67 and 73 degrees Fahrenheit and at an elevation of nearly 4000 feet. Each room is equipped with a fan, and new heaters are installed in all of the guest rooms.

On-site Dining
The Rim, located at Volcano House, overlooks the rim of Kilauea caldera and showcases views of billowing Halema‘uma‘u Crater. Hawaiian cuisine is served – and at least 95% of the restaurant’s meat, seafood, fruit and vegetables are sourced from local ranchers, farmers and suppliers.

There’s also Uncle George’s Lounge that serves cocktails and a selection of appetizers.
