Waipuilani Beach is located behind Maui Sunset Resort. From South Kihei Road, turn towards the ocean onto Waipuilani Road and you'll see a tiny parking on your right where the road curves south.
This area starts out really nice. There is a huge grassy lawn here, it has bathrooms, and there is some shade from the trees. It even has nice views of the west Maui mountains in the distance.
The problem is that the beach, while not bad, just isn't anything spectacular. It's pretty long but very narrow so there isn't a lot of dry sand in most areas. It's also littered with all sort of beach debris (rocks, tree bits, etc).
If you're staying nearby you'll probably hang out here and enjoy it, but for most who aren't staying right here it's probably not a beach worth visiting.
