We finally got around to trying Dixie Grill and were pleasantly surprised at what we found here. We arrived just after 11am (their opening time) and the place was already packed (popular with military people).
We were quickly seated and our server, Meredith, was quick to get drinks started and take our order and provided excellent service the entire time. They start you off with some free popcorn which is a nice touch and then come out with a 6 pack of the various BBQ sauces they make (explaining each one) so you can try a variety of sauces on your food.
We order up a couple of BBQ pulled pork sandwiches ($9.25 each, includes a side of fries or mac salad) and they arrived on our table in minutes. The pulled pork was super tender and tasted good alone but was delicious with their BBQ sauce on it. Excellent BBQ here, we loved every bit of it. If we had to find a complaint it would be that the buns were dry and falling apart.
If you are extra hungry go for one of the plates where you can choose as selection of the smoked meats they offer along with a couple of sides. The two meat plate is a large amount of food and a deal at around $16.
For dessert we tried their double chocolate brownie (our waitress said all of the desserts are made there). It was nice and soft and gooey with chocolate drizzled on top and had vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on top. Tasty and big enough for 2 (or more) to split and a decent value at $6.50.
Other than dry buns, the only improvement we'd like to see is on the drink prices. A soda ran us $3.10 which is a bit on the greedy side while a sweet tea was $4.25. Now, the tea came in a giant mug but still, $4.25 for tea? That's just not right, especially when the other prices seem reasonable.
Overall, we loved it and will be back often.
