Waikiki Gateway Hotel - Hotels On Oahu Honolulu, Hawaii

The Waikiki Gateway Hotel is a budget hotel with 181 rooms and has a decent enough location on Kalakaua Avenue. The hotel website really plays up the fact that it is on Kalakaua Avenue (the street that parallels Waikiki Beach) and thus one of only 15 hotels in "Waikiki proper" but the truth is that the hotel is at the north end of Waikiki where Kalakaua angles inland a lot and that means you'll be walking a good three blocks to hit the ocean.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, and it's a decent location, but not what they play it up to be on their site. On the flip side, many of the rooms will have nice views of the park across the street as well as the ocean of Waikiki in the distance without a lot buildings blocking the view.

They do have some "single" rooms mean for single travelers or couples "on a budget" as they've listed but keep in mind these will be tiny rooms in the 220-280 sq ft range. The better rooms will have well over 300 sq ft (and up).

There is a "hot breakfast" that they offer here but it will cost you around $10 each, which is probably a deal.
