Haycraft Beach Park is a small beach park at the most eastern part of Maalaea. Surfing and boogie boarding are good during the summer. Whales can be seen during the winter months.

To get here from traveling either direction on the Honoapiilani Highway (30), turn off onto Maalaea Road and drive until you find Hauoli Street where you'll be turning east. Follow Hauoli Street all the way to the end where it will curve right and dump you into a small parking lot.

If you feel like you just drove somewhere you don't belong then you have arrived. It's not that this place is necessarily unsafe or overly dicey but it just feels a bit shady back here (and I'm not talking about the trees).

There isn't much parking but Haycraft Beach isn't used a ton either so you'll probably be fine finding a spot to park. On our last visit there were several, well, let's just call them "characters" standing around when we parked and you can't help but wonder if you're car will be okay while you are away. It was fine, but as always don't leave stuff in your car because Vehicle Theft In Hawaii is can be an issue.

The beach itself is just average. It does have a shower but the bathroom is a port-a-potty. There are trees which do provide some shade (this time the good kind) and a picnic table. The water here is nice and the beach is pretty long and you might even have most of it to yourself.

It might be a good beach to kill some time on your way back to the airport but otherwise it's probably not a destination beach.
