Mac 24/7 is located on the main level of the Hilton Waikiki Beach hotel. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner but we came for breakfast since they had a pancake challenge that was featured on the television show Man v. Food a while back.

We didn't do the crazy pancake challenge where you eat some disgusting amount of food that no human should ever consume in one sitting but you can get those same "challenge" items in normal sizes. Well, "normal" actually isn't even correct because those normal meals are still twice as much food as most people would want to eat for breakfast.

In our case we tried some red velvet pancakes ($14.00) and a short stack of blueberry pancakes ($14.00, small version of the Man v. Food challenge). Fourteen dollars for pancakes? Come on now!

The red velvet pancakes are were very dry but came with regular syrup, a caramel-like syrup, and a cream cheese spread (which looked like mayonnaise and didn't taste much better). The caramel syrup was good but just made everything too sweet. These weren't bad, but nothing more than average so I wouldn't recommend them and when I tried them without syrup they actually tastes kind of nasty (with syrup there was no nasty taste, just nothing noteworthy).

The blueberry pancakes came in their own vanilla flavored syrup and were much better but we had to get a side of bacon (for an insane $4.00) to deal with the way-too-sweet flavors going on.

For some reason, the hostess sat us at the bar rather than a table or booth but the bar tender (Peter) was actually really good and friendly and genuinely seemed to enjoy his job so that always makes the experience better. On the down side, the cooking time was unusually slow for a few pancakes.

Overall, for breakfast it was pricey but that's how it goes in the land of Waikiki I suppose.
