Laupahoehoe Memorial Park is a small memorial park and harbor outside of Hilo.
It is best known for being the site of a tragic Tsunami that killed 20 students and four teachers in 1946. A monument stands in front of Laupahoehoe Point with the names of those that were lost.
As far as being a tourist destination, it's more of a place of reflection and to pay your respects. With that said, there are some amazing photo opportunities here as well. Further down the trail is Laupahoehoe Point Beach Park.
