Grass Skirt Grill - Restaurants On Oahu Haleiwa, Hawaii

The Grass Skirt Grill is a cute plate lunch restaurant in the middle of Haleiwa. They serve the best plate lunches I’ve ever had. The food tastes delicious and doesn't feel as heavy as other plate lunch joints. The fish and salad tasted very fresh.

The décor is beachy with a surfboard menu and pictures of hula girls on the walls. You order your food at the counter and they bring the food to you at the table. Our server was friendly and helpful. The Grass Skirt Grill only accepts cash.

We ordered the Grilled Ahi plate and Shrimp Scampi. The ahi was fresh and grilled to perfection. It was covered with basil and lemon butter. It was super ono. The Shrimp Scampi came with a dozen shrimp sautéed in a garlic, white wine and butter sauce. The sauce was flavorful yet not too rich. My favorite part was the salad. They use Farmer Dave’s homemade papaya seed dressing. It was one of the best salad dressings I’ve ever tasted. They sell the dressing by the bottle if you want to take it home.
