You wouldn't expect a nice beach like Kanaha Beach Park to be back behind an industrial area and Kahului Airport (OGG) but it's here and we like it.
To get here, head north on the Hana Highway (36) and veer right (north) onto Hobron Avenue and then right (east) onto Amala Place. It's an old and bumpy road through an industrial area but stick with it, things get better quick.
Keep driving and you'll eventually see the park on your left with four or five places where you can turn in. Just pick one, park, and walk in.
It's a huge park with tons of grass and shady areas and plenty of amenities like BBQ grills volleyball nets, bathrooms, and showers. The grounds are very well maintained and it feels like a good family park and beach. It would be a great place for a picnic, party, or just a regular day at the beach.
It's very popular with windsurfers and kite-boarders which is a ton of fun to watch. The water here is pretty nice and the beach is pretty good as well. It's not the best location, with an airport right behind it, but a better than average beach park.
