Located just after (east of) Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve and Beach Park, you'll find a small area where you can pull off the highway and park with "Scenic Point" and Lana'i Lookout signs.
Park, get out, walk to the short wall and follow the rules on the sign of not hopping over the wall for a closer look. Instead, enjoy the amazing views and snap a few pictures because this is an excellent photo opportunity as long as the sky is clear. If the sky is clear you will probably get to see the island of Moloka'i off to your left. If the sky is super clear you might get to see (in order from left to right) Moloka'i, Maui, and Lana'i.
There are signs here about not leaving valuables in your car and that's good advice anywhere, as Vehicle Theft In Hawaii can be a problem, but it's sort of odd here considering you'll only be 30-40 feet away from your car the entire time. So bring your gold bars and diamonds with you rather than leaving them on the seat of your car.
Scenic views aren't for everyone so we can't recommend this place for everyone nor are we suggesting you drive across the island just to see it. But if you're driving by or otherwise near it then why not stop and enjoy a view.
