About Germaine's Luau
Let us take you back 100 years & 27 miles from Waikiki to our exclusive beachfront property on the shores of West Oahu. Since 1976, over 3 million visitors to our Islands have become a part of the Germaine’s Ohana. Germaine’s Luau® has been acclaimed as America’s Best Luau in “America’s Best 100” and has been filmed by ABC’s “Good Morning America”. Come to where you will still experience a traditional luau that recaptures the “Spirit of Old Hawaii”.

The founding of our luau began in the early 1970's at Sea Life Park, the popular aquatic family venue overlooking picturesque Makapu'u Point on East Oahu. In 1976, we relocated to the sunny west side of our island to a beachfront property near the Barber's Point lighthouse where it remains today.

The area was the former seaside residence of Rosalei and William Stephenson & their family. The Stephensons were renowned for their hospitality and enjoyed hosting Hawaiian luau as a regular family tradition.

Prior to the development of the present Campbell Industrial Park, the area was lush with vegetation and surrounded with sugar cane fields waving in the gentle breeze. The waters along the shoreline of the estate teemed with fish and other treasures of the sea.

To ensure that the family would be forever united and always remain Keiki o Ka 'Aina (children of the land), individual coconut trees were planted for each member of the Stephenson family throughout the property. The heights of the various coconut trees today represent the different generations of family who celebrated aloha in their Hawaiian way of life and enjoyed happy times together. The lone Norfolk pine tree on the estate served as the family Christmas tree and the family members decorated it each year as they celebrated the joys of the Christmas holiday season.

In keeping with the Stephenson family traditions, we have taken special measures to insure that the “family of coconut trees” remain in the areas they were originally planted and are properly maintained.

Our luau has evolved over the years but the true spirit of Aloha remains as the defining element of the Germaine's Luau® experience.

You will leave with fond memories of what a true luau is all about…a one of a kind experience not found anywhere else in the world. Upon arrival, all of our guests are traditionally welcomed with a Hawaiian Shell Lei. The sounding of the conch shell announces the beginning of the evening’s festivities! Picture taking opportunities await as the Royal Court of Polynesia makes its entrance. As the imu (underground oven) is uncovered, the savory aroma of the Kalua Pua’a (roasted pig) – your main course of the evening – reminds us that dinner is soon to be served.

Our all-you-can-eat buffet features an array of tasty Hawaiian – American selections, which include traditional Island favorites sure to please even the less adventurous (See our menu).
The night is filled with beauty, color, and excitement as our multi-talented kane (men) and wahine (women) take you through a non-stop, action-packed journey throughout the Islands of Tahiti, Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand as well as the romantic hula of Hawaii.

The evening also includes unlimited soft drinks, coffee & tea as well as 1-3 beverage coupons (depending on your package) for all adults 21 years & older. Complimentary transfers from designated Waikiki locations are also available.
Matt Anderson's Take
Germaine's Luau is located in the town of Kapolei on the west side of O'ahu, right next to Barbers Point Beach Park with gorgeous ocean views. This highly rated luau has been entertaining guests since 1976 and is often said to be a more authentic luau experience compared to those in a resort.

Loved the Luau! If you have never experienced a Luau it is a must while in Paradise! The culture is so different than what I am accustomed to. Tried their foods that are part of their tradition. They made sure to include the audience. The experience of their cultural dancing was amazing. Germaines sit right on the water. Gorgeous sunsets! So peaceful and relaxing right next to the waves.

First ever luau. The entertainment was great. The food was good. The location was beautiful. The hostess on the bus was awesome. The only let down was when they took the pig out of the ground fire pit. It was the meat already removed from it, not the actual pig.

I've been to this luau on two occasions and it does not disappoint! We prefer not to go to a luau at Polynesian Cultural Center because we enjoy having adult beverages during our experience (alcohol is not served at PCC). My first time at Germaine's was in 2011 and when we returned in 2015 we were pleasantly surprised to see that most of their staff was still working there. The employees are very passionate about their jobs and their heritage, and it shows!

This was our first trip to Hawaii and this was the luau that everyone recommended for Honolulu. I am so glad that I booked it! Awesome food, and the entertainment was amazing. This is the luau that we always compare to the others that we have attended. I recommend this luau to everyone visiting Honolulu!

We got some cheap last minute tickets to Germaine's Luau and I'm glad we went for it. When we arrived we got a few tickets that you can then use for alcoholic drinks which were all very tasty and islandy.

The luau show was very good, really good performances and dances. Really loved it. The food was pretty good, most of it wasn't great, but the pork was really delicious.
