Two miles of white sand beach makes this one the longest and widest beaches in Hawaii. Backed by Kiawe trees that have horns that can be up an inch long. Not recommended for swimming due to strong rip currents.

One of my favorite beaches on Molokai is Papohaku Beach. It's located on the west side of Molokai, and is one of the longest and widest beaches in Hawaii. That's why it's also known as Three Mile Beach. You're likely to find yourself all alone on this beach. It feels like your Charlton Heston in Planet of the Apes when he's riding his horse down the beach.

Papohaku Beach is known to have huge waves during the winter. During the summer it can be calm, but it's deceptive. There is an inconsistent current that may be dangerous. Enjoy, but be aware.

Camping is allowed, but you'll need to get a permit from the Maui County Department of Parks and Recreation. Bring an umbrella if you want shade. The fine soft sand feels good on your feet, but because this beach is so windy, it gets all over you and your stuff.

There are campsites, indoor and outdoor showers, picnic tables and restrooms. At night, you can see the faint city lights of Waikiki and Honolulu off in the distance.

This beach has a lot to offer. If your fortunate enough to have a day without wind during the summer, it can be an amazing place.
